Biographie de Faile

Faile est un collectif fondé en 1999 par Patrick McNeil (né en 1975 à Edmonton, Alberta), Patrick Mille (né en 1976 à Minneapolis, Minnesota) et Aiko Nakagawa qui quittera le groupe fin 2006. Le nom Faile provient de l’anagramme de leur premier projet intitulé : « A life ». Leurs études dans une école d’art et de design les ont formés à de nombreuses techniques liées à la peinture et à l’impression. La sérigraphie et le pochoir restent la base de leurs travaux. Différents univers se croisent dans leurs réalisations : rétro, pulp fifties / seventies, pop art et allient un savant mélange de typhographies. Ils disent être influencés par Robert Rauschenberg, Stanley Kubrick, Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly et Roy Lichtenstein…
En 2010, l’exposition Deluxx Fluxx en collaboration avec BAST rencontre un réel succès. Ils réalisent un univers de jeu d’arcades avec des consoles revues par leurs soins. Cette même année une seconde exposition a lieu à Lisbonne dans le cadre du Portugal Arte 10 Festival. Ils construisent un temple fait de marbre, de céramique et de métal qui reprend leur univers. Ils réalisent également de nombreuses fresques notamment une à New-York en septembre 2013. L’univers et les compétences de ce duo sont largement reconnus sur la scène internationale de l’art urbain.
